Aerospace Assembly
RFQ Checklist

What to gather before requesting a quote for aerospace or defense assembly work, so we can provide an accurate, actionable response.

01

What should be included in an aerospace assembly RFQ?

A complete aerospace assembly RFQ typically includes the part number and drawing, the drawing revision level, the applicable specification, the required quantity, whether components are customer-supplied, inspection and testing requirements, documentation requirements, and delivery requirements.

Providing this information up front helps ensure an accurate, actionable quote. Actual requirements for a given program are always governed by the controlling customer documentation, not by this checklist.

RFQ Checklist

Information to gather before submitting a request

01. Part number and drawingThe part number or engineering drawing that defines the component or assembly to be quoted.
02. Drawing revisionThe current revision level of the drawing, since requirements can change between revisions.
03. Applicable specificationAny governing process specification, military standard, or OEM standard that applies to the work.
04. QuantityThe number of units required, including whether the quantity is a one-time build or a recurring order.
05. Supplied componentsWhether the customer will supply components, hardware, or raw material, or whether the supplier must source them.
06. Inspection and testing requirementsAny required inspection methods, proof-load testing, or acceptance criteria that must be met.

Why does this information matter?

Aerospace and defense assembly work is governed by drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements that directly affect cost, lead time, and process selection. Missing information at the RFQ stage typically results in a delayed or less accurate quote while the details are gathered.

This checklist applies generally to aerospace assembly RFQs. The specific documentation, inspection, and delivery requirements for your program are set by your controlling drawing, specification, and purchase order terms.
